Petroleum Division
Moran Towing has been a long time provider of fuels for electric generating facilities predominantly in the New England and Florida markets. While still maintaining its niche as a quality transporter of fuel oil for utilities, Moran has expanded its fleet into different markets as well. Today Moran operates 16 petroleum barges ranging in size from 19,000 barrels up to 250,000 barrels of capacity carrying a variety of petroleum products from gasoline to residual fuel oil. Seven of these 16 barges are of double-hull design, with four double-hulls operating in the inland waterways of Florida under long-term contract. More recently Moran successfully completed a contract with an independent power producer to service a power plant on Lake Ontario providing transportation of fuel oil from Quebec City and Montreal via the St. Lawrence Seaway. With highly trained crews an experienced operations team and a dedicated management, Moran is committed to crew and cargo safety, quality customer service and environmental responsibility.
In an industry in transition, brought on by the strict double-hull requirements of the Oil Pollution Act of 1990, Moran is committed to providing environmentally safe, reliable and efficient transportation services of petroleum products with the next generation of double-hull marine equipment. We welcome your company's inquiry on the transportation of petroleum products either via the inland waterway system or offshore.
